Louisiana Rushing Robinson

Education & Leadership Scholarship

Mrs. Louisiana Rushing Robinson was born May 5, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Eliza Redfearn Rushing and married to the late Benjamin Robinson. She left her legacy of “Leadership & Service,” on February 18, 2015.

Mrs. Louisiana Robinson, was a member of the Flint Ridge Baptist Church and later joined Walker Grove Baptist Church in Wingate, NC, where she was a faithful member. There she served as the Church clerk from 1944 to 2009. She also served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher for the youth and Missionary President for many years. Mrs. Louisiana, also worked on the kitchen committee and as the choir director from 1980 until 2010.

Louisiana was very active in the community, recording secretary of the Union County Missionary for more than 40 years, serving as the recording secretary for the Yadkin Philadelphia Sunday School Convention for more than fifteen years.

Mrs. Robinson, was the President of the Marshville-Wingate NAACP for 30 years. The Marshville-Wingate NAACP was later named the Union County NAACP. Mrs. Louisiana, served in different offices on the North Carolina State NAACP; NAACP State Level Membership, and registration committee. Her last service to the organization was as Executive Advisor to the Union County Branch. She also served on the Union County Health Board, and 2nd Vice-President of the Union Democratic Party for one term.

Mrs. Robinson was employed with Anson shirt company for many years.

Mrs. Louisiana Robinson was a woman of great courage and conviction. The wisdom she shared and the legacy she has left is immeasurable. It is a privilege to name our Union County Branch NAACP Education & Leadership Scholarship in her honor.

 

The 2021-22 Scholarship application is now available. 

Applications must be received no later than April 27, 2022.
